Meet the New Marquette South Branch Manager

We’re thrilled to announce Jeremy Johnston as the new Marquette South Branch Manager at Embers Credit Union! With a rich professional background, a strong connection to the Upper Peninsula, and a passion for building lasting relationships, Jeremy is excited to serve the community and bring a new level of excellence to the branch.

A Marquette Native with a Diverse Career Journey

Born and raised in Marquette, Jeremy’s roots run deep in the UP. After venturing to Tennessee for college and living in Minneapolis for a time, he found his way back to the place he calls home. Over the past decade, Jeremy has built an impressive career in banking, starting as a teller in 2012 and working his way up to branch manager.

His diverse professional path also includes experience as a mortgage processor and time as an insurance claims adjuster, where he handled home inspections, wrote repair estimates, and managed claims. These roles have equipped Jeremy with a versatile skill set and a unique perspective on serving community members with care and expertise.

A Love for the Outdoors and Quality Time

When Jeremy isn’t welcoming members to the branch, he’s likely exploring what the UP has to offer. A lover of hiking and camping, he enjoys soaking in the beauty of the region’s wooded trails and scenic landscapes.

At home, Jeremy spends his time with his four-year-old dog, River, a 170-pound mix of Leonberger, Newfoundland, and Bernese Mountain Dog breeds. Whether hitting the trails or hanging out together, the bond between Jeremy and River is unmistakable.

Jeremy also cherishes time with family and friends, finding new places to visit or simply enjoying a meal together. Speaking of food, his go-to favorite is pho—a comforting, flavorful dish that’s always a hit.

Excited to Be Part of the Embers Team

Jeremy joined Embers in September, drawn by the credit union’s vibrant, community-centered culture. “Most of my career has been spent working for big corporations, and the culture there just doesn’t compare to that of a smaller, community-focused organization,” he shares.

He’s especially looking forward to the work-life balance Embers supports and the chance to make a meaningful impact in the lives of members. “The positive energy here at Embers is incredible. It’s refreshing to be part of an organization where people genuinely support one another and truly care about the community we serve.”
