FAQs
No. The terms and conditions of your loan will remain the same. You bet! Use the checks you have until they run out. You can even use your current checks after we merge with Embers Credit Union. Embers does not offer KASASA®, but they offer Fire Rewards Checking and the benefits are LIT! From the outset, this merger has been approached as a combination of two great credit unions with the desire to serve the entire Upper Peninsula. In the short term, this means Delta County members will immediately have access to an additional six branches, enhanced product offerings, and expanded digital delivery channels. In the long term, the new Embers Credit Union will be considerably larger than either of the two institutions today, which means additional investment in infrastructure. New employees, additional training, and expanded platforms (including an internal Call Center) will improve service levels. At the same time, you can count on the same outstanding service you’ve received from Delta County over the years. None of our branches are closing and none of our employees are leaving as a result of the merger. You will access your account through embers.org or with the Embers Credit Union mobile app, available on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. Please call or visit one of our offices if you have not received your Embers credit card by February 15. Your DCCU share certificates will transfer over with the same term and dividend rate. Most automatic transactions – debits and credits, including direct deposit, recurring bills, and government payments – will be converted automatically. However, after September 21, your automatic recurring payments through your DCCU Debit Card will need to be updated to your new Embers Debit Card. Your KASASA® Saver account will be automatically converted into our Money Manager account. Dividends will range from 0.10% APY to 0.25% APY depending on account balance. Any unredeemed Scorecard Rewards will be converted into cashback at $0.004 per point (1,000 points = $4) and paid out on April 1. You’ll be able to start using all Embers Credit Union branches beginning on Monday, September 21, 2020. You may begin using your Embers credit card on February 22nd. Your DCCU credit card will no longer after 11:59 P.M. on Sunday, February 21st. You can continue to use your DCCU Credit Card as you normally would until 11:59 P.M. EST on Sunday, February 21st. On February 22, your DCCU card will stop working and you will start using your new Embers Credit Card. Originally founded in 1953 as the St. Peter Cathedral Credit Union, later UP Catholic Credit Union, Embers is now the largest credit union in the Upper Peninsula. It is headquartered in Marquette, with branches in Marquette, Negaunee, Gwinn, Munising, and Trenary. Embers serves nearly 30,000 members and holds $400 million in assets. Embers is chartered to serve all residents and businesses of the Upper Peninsula. Both credit unions provide exceptional value, convenient access, and superior service to their members, and they aspire to provide the same for all residents of the Upper Peninsula. The financial services industry continues to grow in complexity, and the Boards recognize the relationship between the institutions' size, its resources, and its ability to serve members. Yes. All Delta County employees will retain their jobs. In addition, they will retain their years of service. Excitingly, there will be new career opportunities that open up for all employees, as the new Embers Credit Union will be significantly larger than both credit unions today. On Friday, September 18th at approximately 6:00 P.M. EST DCCU online, mobile, text, and phone banking will all be taken offline. Starting on Monday, September 21st you can begin using Embers Digital Banking platform. Click here for enrollment instructions. The month of August is the last month that KASASA® rewards will be received. Starting in September you’ll earn Fire Checking rewards. Seeing that there's not a full month to earn rewards in September, we are increasing the dividend rate to 5% APY until month end! Existing DCCU members will be exempt from the paper statement fee. Absolutely. You will have access to the last 36 months of your account statements within the new platform. The vast majority of account numbers will stay the same. We will contact you directly if your account number is changing. Even if your account number changes, you will still be able to use your old DCCU checks, and all of your automatic payments and deposits will continue uninterrupted. Yes, the list of Bill Pay payees you previously established will automatically convert to the new system. Absolutely. However, the joint account owner’s card will be mailed separately. Also note that the joint account owner will have their own unique card number going forward. You bet! We’ll also make all current KASASA® account holders eligible to earn rewards without meeting the card transaction and direct deposit qualifications for the month of September! You will see no change. Your loan payments will continue to be taken out as scheduled until your loan is paid in full. You will need to create a new username and password the first time you use the Embers Digital Banking platform. Any payments scheduled prior to merger will be processed as usual. Absolutely. In addition, the credit union expects to refurbish the existing locations to improve service. On Friday, September 18th at approximately 6:00 P.M. EST the Delta County CU Mobile App will no longer work. Starting on Monday, September 21st you can begin using the Embers CU Mobile app. Click here for enrollment instructions. Although our primary routing number will be 291172844, automatic transactions in place with the Delta County CU routing number, 291172598, will still continue to process. All new automatic transactions set up after September 21, will need to use the Embers routing number with the correct account formatting. You will need to update any automatic payments that post to your credit card. Your normal payment due date of March 10 will be moved FORWARD to March 25, and your payments will be due on the 25th of the month going forward. Your next statement cycle date after February 15 will be March 31 and will be the end of every month going forward. Your statements will be included with your regular account statement. Your credit card and all transaction activity will be accessible in Embers digital banking, and you will no longer use the EZCardInfo site to manage your credit card or view transactions.
